From myth to legend
In a palette of granite, Nordic ash, creams and whites, the Raison d'Etre spa celebrates the history and landscape of the Swedish archipelagos.
Our inspiration is the holy tree of Norse mythology, Yggradsil, with its root in Mímisbrunnr, the well of wisdom, and branches that extend into heaven. We hope you'll find our treatments, rooted as they are in our own unique wisdom, lead you somewhere very similar.
Det Nordiska Badet (Nordic bathing)
At the very first Swedish bathing house, founded in 1269, women used birch twigs to whip the client's skin into tingling pink freshness. Today, we're a little gentler with you. But the scent of birch still pervades our Nordic bathing, and the combination of sauna and cold water, exfoliating scrub and nourishing masks, means you'll emerge every bit as enlivened as your predecessors did, 700 years ago.
We're gentle on the environment too, using organic and fair trade items wherever we can. Our sheets, towels, oils and candles are organic, as is virtually everything else we use. We don't put chemicals in our pools, and our paper is recycled. In every aspect of our work, we look for the most sustainable option.
More than massage

We've also designed our own range of body products especially for this spa, including a different massage butter to suit each treatment. Inspired by local herbs and flowers, our products have been made for us here in Sweden, using only organic ingredients and absolutely no chemicals.
Fitness
We believe spas and gyms make perfect partners. So as well as our massages and treatments, we also offer a fully equipped Fitness Club.
As well as all the latest Life Fitness facilities, the Club has wonderful panoramic views across the city. There's also a private studio for yoga, stretch and other activities, including personal training, and healthy refreshment at The Fitness Bar. For the seriously sporty, golf, tennis and other sports are all close at hand.
